Implementing special education and behavioral programs for students with emotional and behavioral difficulties and Autism, The Collaborative School specializes in treating and educating students in grades K-12 with mental health diagnoses including mood disorders, complex trauma, ASD, and attachment disorders.  We are looking for a team member who can support our special and unique kids. 

Social Worker

The Collaborative School seeks a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (preferred) or LMSW-CC with a strong clinical background for a full-time, day treatment position (school year calendar with limited summer) in our Middle School Classroom. The Collaborative School is a division of The Maine Special Education Mental Health Collaborative and is a Special Purpose Private School licensed by the Maine Department of Education.  The Collaborative School specializes in the treatment and education of students in grades K-12 with mental health diagnoses including mood disorders, complex trauma, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and attachment disorders. 

 

Staff at The Collaborative School receives cutting-edge professional development opportunities in innovative practices and approaches in both mental health and education.  We have ongoing consultation from Dan Hughes, Ph.D. (attachment and trauma), and Allegra Hirsh-Wright, LCSW (trauma, TF CBT). Staff is encouraged to advance professionally in the fields of social work, psychology, and/or education through course reimbursement and workshops.

 

Applicants should be interested in working within a multi-disciplinary mental health special education team. Social work involves individual, group, and family work.

 Special Education Teacher Grades 4 - 6:

The Collaborative School has an opening for a Special Education Teacher in their Intermediate Classroom (Grades 4-6).  The Collaborative School is a division of The Maine Special Education Mental Health Collaborative and is a Special Purpose Private School licensed by the Maine Department of Education.  We provide a setting with a low student/teacher ratio, clinical supervision/support, competitive salary/benefits, and a work environment designed to support personal and professional growth.  

 

The Collaborative School specializes in the treatment and education of students in grades K-12 with mental health diagnoses including mood disorders, complex trauma, ASD, and attachment disorders.  Staff at The Collaborative School receives cutting-edge professional development opportunities in innovative practices and approaches in both mental health and education.  Teachers are encouraged to advance professionally through course reimbursement, workshops, and on-site training.

Qualifications: A qualified candidate must hold or be eligible for Maine 282 certification and have an interest and ability to work effectively with children with emotional disabilities. Strong collaborative skills are essential, as well as the ability to respond to the academic and behavioral needs of individual students within a well-defined behavioral program.  Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching students with significant emotional disturbances and autism spectrum disorders, experience supervising multiple Education Technicians, as well as experience integrating CCSS and MLR’s in an aligned instructional model.

Educational Tech III/ Behavioral Health Professional:

The Collaborative School has anticipated openings at the primary and secondary levels for an Education Technician III/Behavioral Health Professional. The Collaborative School specializes in treating and educating students in grades K-12 with mental health diagnoses including mood disorders, complex trauma, autism, and attachment disorders. Staff at The Collaborative School receives cutting-edge professional development opportunities in innovative practices and approaches in both mental health and education. Staff is encouraged to advance professionally in the fields of social work, psychology, and/or education through advancement opportunities, course reimbursement, and future internship placements.

QualificationsMust have a bachelor's degree or a minimum of 90 credit hours. Must hold or is eligible for State of Maine Ed Tech III certification, and an interest and ability to work effectively with children with emotional disabilities. Behavior Health Professional Certification is a plus, however, we supply training for BHP Certification if not already BHP Certified.
